Keith Babineaux's Sound Design Demo Reel
For each sound design project, I begin by studying the video multiple times to understand the story, timing, mood, and the types of sounds needed. I organize and select sound effects using Soundly Pro, then focus first on cleaning and balancing the dialogue so it remains clear and does not peak above -6 dB. Once the dialogue is set, I build the background ambience, Foley, and sound effects around it. I keep the background levels controlled, usually around -20 to -30 dB RMS, and make sure Foley and FX also stay below -6 dB. After placing each sound in the correct position, I pan and blend everything together so the dialogue stays forward while the full mix feels natural, detailed, and connected to the picture.
